Somewhere in Roswell, Georgia
there may be a photograph of me stripped
from the waist up, filed in a metal cabinet
in the school district repository
or in the police department rooms
where all the evidence is kept of young boys
asked to strip from the waist up
to sit for pictures of the bruises
left by bully fingers twisting skin and pinching.
My parents were not there to approve my nakedness.
I did not know they should have been.
But because the officer in blue was kind and blond, pretty
like a mom with a gun I trusted my fear of her
and posed.
