THE KIND WORDS

I lashed our eyes together
and spit my pleasantries:
I don’t trust you
Don’t respect you
Can’t believe you
when you pretend
to know anything.

But I spoke in code
and wonder if you broke it:
You necrotizing venom, you
rank, stagnant, wastewater filth,
you flashing murder blade
slashing my carotid hope
crusted with my gushing contempt
for everything you are.
